Cardome Centre
Rich in history and untouched by time, this gracious Kentucky treasure built in 1821 was once the home of James F. Robinson, the 22nd governor of Kentucky, who served the remainder of the unfinished term of Governor Beriah Magoffin from 1862 to 1863. Following his death, the Sisters of the Visitation bought the property in 1894 and converted it into Cardome Visitation Academy, a prominent all-girls’ boarding school operated for more than six decades.
Surrounded by peaceful grounds, the architecturally beautiful facility—originally named “cara domus,” a Latin phrase meaning “dear home”—is today an events facility.
Scheduled tours are offered by appointment.
