Royal Spring Park

royalspringpark

Royal Spring is considered the birthplace of bourbon, as colorful Reverend Elijah Craig is credited with distilling the first spirits in Kentucky. Also located here was the first paper mill West of the Appalachians and a log cabin built in 1874 by former slave Milton Leach. Royal Spring offers two historic cabins, a large picnic shelter and decks that overlook the spring and passive park. You can find this spring on South Water Street, across from Local Feed.

The picnic shelter may be rented for special events through Georgetown-Scott County Parks & Recreation here.
