Nov 17-Dec 31, 2017 - Southern Lights

The annual Southern Lights Holiday Festival takes place Nov. 17-Dec. 31 at the Kentucky Horse Park. With three full miles of lights, this family-friendly festival has an eye-popping, selfie-worthy array of holiday displays. Drive through the lights, then enjoy park activities: local crafts, model trains and mini train rides, visits with Santa, pony and camel rides, an exotic petting zoo and more. Regularly chosen as a Top 20 Event in the Southeast by the Southeast Tourism Society, the festival is open 5:30-10:00 p.m. (except for Thanksgiving night and Dec. 24-31). Nov 25, 2017 - Small Business Saturday

Shop small and celebrate your community with the small businesses that make it special – this is the mission of Small Business Saturday, a promotion launched by American Express in 2010 to encourage people across the country to support small, local businesses. With dozens and dozens of independently-owned shops and boutiques, galleries and restaurants – many located in its picturesque Victorian-era downtown, Georgetown makes it easy to support this annual shopping tradition with promotions and discounts at participating small businesses on Saturday, Nov. 25.

 

Dec 2, 2017 - Home for the Holidays

Come “Home for the Holidays,” on Dec. 2 when Georgetown/Scott County Tourism Commission presents family-friendly activities on the Square from 2-5 p.m., followed by the annual “Light up the Season” themed holiday parade at 6 p.m. The official lighting of the tree will take place at the conclusion of the parade with pictures with Santa immediately following. Dec 8-10 & 15-20, 2017 - Ward Hall Candlelight Tours

Step inside Ward Hall, one of the nation’s finest Greek Revival-style mansions, trimmed for the holidays and illuminated with dozens of candles. Learn the history of this 12,000-square-foot villa, built for $50,000 (which was paid in gold) and completed in 1857, at Ward Hall’s annual Candlelight Tours from 6-9 p.m. on Dec. 8-10 & 15-20. Tickets are purchased at the door. $7 for adults and $5 for children.
