GEORGETOWN, KY – NOVEMBER 9, 2018 – Kentucky’s newest craft brewery celebrates its official ribbon cutting and open house Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. on Georgetown’s East Main Street. My Old Kentucky Foam was just a dream two years ago, but now, that dream has four walls and a hot brick oven.

The dream of Darrin and Synthia Burchell became a reality with the opening of their brewery earlier this year. Now featuring a full craft beer menu, brick oven pizza, and enjoyable events and performances all in one location, My Old Kentucky Foam welcomes the public with open arms.

A teacher and a saleswoman walk into a bar
Darrin, the Head Brewer, retired from the University of Kentucky to pursue his passion for beer-making. His background in science, specifically chemistry and biology, as well as education and engineering make him the ideal candidate to head up the brewing operations. Synthia’s background in human resources and sales makes her the perfect person to oversee operations and outside sales. And with the help of friends Steve and Melanie Noe, My Old Kentucky Foam is a force to be reckoned with in the craft beer industry.

Of all the towns in the state, Georgetown was chosen by the Burchells and Noes because of its vibe. They love the area’s growth – and excitement in that growth piqued their interest.

“Georgetown is a beautiful community,” said Synthia when discussing the couples’ reasons for choosing Georgetown to build their dream. “There’s a warmth in keeping the old, while becoming a bit cosmopolitan at the same time that we like.”

Flights of fancy
The brewery is stocked with a wide range of IPAs, Pale Ales and Imperial Stouts to entice craft beer connoisseurs. Rotating taps frequently help keep things fresh, even for the regulars, though a selection of flagship beers are always available.

My Old Kentucky Foam’s flagship beers include:

• Georgetown Brown – a very drinkable and malty award-winning brown ale
• Copperhead – a hoppy amber, with more bite than most ambers, but less than those found in KY Bluegrass
• Dirty Blonde – 27% dirtier than most blondes, but 35% more approachable than other blonde ales
• Hot Mess – a retro cream ale from the turn of the century, similar to those found back then in Louisville and Covington

Besides your typical glass of cold beer, the brewery offers four different 4-oz portions per flight, so guests can enjoy a true sampling of what’s offered. Not a beer enthusiast? My Old Kentucky Foam also features a full bar for those who prefer wine or a mixed drink.

Pizza Partner
To compliment the delicious beer, My Old Kentucky Foam partners with Rolling Oven, a local brick oven pizzeria, to offer delectable Neapolitan-style pizzas to their customers in-house.

As Synthia says, “Craft beer and pizza are like cookies and milk!”

The two just go together, and My Old Kentucky Foam only partners with the best, which is why they chose to work with Rolling Oven.

Rolling Oven features traditional favorites like pepperoni and supreme pizzas, as well as gourmet choices like Prosciutto Speciale, Potato and Chorizo and Pizza Bianca. All pizzas are made fresh to order and with a “fast casual” service.

At a Main Street Near You
In addition to a full line of craft beer and specialty pizzas, guests can make an evening of it with weekly events featuring karaoke, trivia and live music. The brewery is open 4 p.m.-10 p.m. on Monday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday; 11 a.m.-midnight Thursday through Saturday; and 1 p.m.-9 p.m. Sunday. For a full schedule of events, visit their Facebook page.
