Celebrate the seasons and special occasions at Miss Behaven

Melissa Mattox describes her Main Street destination shop – bursting at the seams with locally crafted items, unique gifts, Kentucky Proud products, super cute clothing and more – as a work-in-progress.

Miss Behaven StorefrontOnce a vacant storefront, Miss Behaven started out with a boutique in the front and a paint party venue in the back, then added a Hallmark Gold Crown department and then spread the retail throughout the building.

“Often folks come in who haven’t visited for a while and get a little disoriented because the shop looks so different than it did in our early days,” says Melissa.

Coming up on its fifth anniversary on April 1, 2021, the eclectic shop located across from the Scott County Courthouse reflects the owner’s love of quaint little towns that have kept alive their Main Streets and an atmosphere of small-town charm.

“You find the most unique items you will not find anywhere else,” Melissa says.

In fact, Melissa discovered what would become Miss Behaven during a shopping trip to one of her favorite downtown Georgetown shops. While waiting in line, she spied an empty space that looked like “it needed a great little shop in it.” And so her quest began to bring a shop of her own to Main Street.Miss Behaven Pane 2

“I love being a part of a vibrant downtown, because I love to help both locals and visitors find the joy in shopping small,” says Melissa. “What better place to do that than right in the middle of Horse and Bourbon Country in a downtown that has so much to offer you can spend the entire day here?”

Especially when the shopping experience is so enjoyable.

“Customers have fun in our store because they are our top priority” she adds. “You will always be greeted upon arrival, have assistance offered and be treated right.”

The shop also stands out for its array of celebration gifts, from baby to wedding to birthday and other occasions. Helium balloons have recently been added to the inventory and free limited local delivery is available.

With the reopening, Miss Behaven continues to offer curbside pickup while also inviting 10 customers at a time inside for in-person shopping.Miss Behaven Panel

“Many people are ready to get out of the house, but want to shop somewhere they feel more secure,” she says. “Small shops like mine offer that experience. From our employees and customers wearing masks, to very frequent cleaning during the day, we are able to offer a fun, safe and healthy shopping experience with no large crowds.”

In addition to curbside pickup, Miss Behaven offers many items on its website, which always offers free local pickup and flat-rate shipping for $5.00. Hours: 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday. The shop is closed Sunday and Monday. For more information, visit Miss Behaven’s Facebook page or call 502-642-5296.
