This event supports the valuable work of the Kentucky Wounded Heroes, which provides healing activities for injured veterans of military, police, fire, and EMS service. One hundred percent of proceeds go to the Kentucky Wounded Heroes. Donations are in multiples of $100. For example, if you wish to donate $500, purchase 5 tickets. Her latest book, “The Gravity of Joy,” is the story of Dr. Gorrell’s discovery of an authentic, grounded Christian joy. But even more, it is an invitation for others to seize upon this more resilient joy as a counteragent to the twenty-first-century epidemics of despair, addiction, and suicide—a call to action for communities that yearn to find joy. FEB 23, 2023 - Ukari Figgs - Black History Month Speaker
Celebrate Black History Month with an inspirational message from former WNBA player Ukari Figgs. Born in Georgetown, Kentucky, Figgs led the Scott County girls' basketball team to a state title in 1995, and was a star on the women's basketball team at Purdue University. Figgs was selected by the Los Angeles Sparks in the 1999 WNBA draft, and played for the Sparks for three seasons, which included a WNBA Championship in 2001. Figgs then played one season each for the Portland Fire and Houston Comets. She currently works at Toyota in Georgetown. Her speech will focus on the impact of Black culture and will take place at 11:00 a.m. in the Ward Room of the Ensor Learning Resource Center (library) at Georgetown College.

FEB 28, 2023 - Collier Lecture - The Intersection of Story & Science
Ashley Clayton is a GC alum, prolific researcher, and a published author and poet. She has worked as a research program assistant and director at Yale Medical School since graduating with her master's. Ashley's presentation will focus on the intersection of story with science. She'll be discussing mental health and community based participatory research, including sharing her personal story of mental illness, her research, and what it's like to be a researcher in the field. Her lecture will take place at 11:00 a.m. in the Ward Room of the Ensor Learning Resource Center (library) at Georgetown College.

March 21, 2023 - Passion RIchardson - Women's History Month Speaker
Passion Richardson is an American former track and field athlete who competed in the Olympics. She had most of her success with the women's 4×100 meter relay team. She ran in the heats at the 2000 Summer Olympics and the Americans won the bronze medal in the final. After graduating in 1993, she went on to study marketing at the University of Kentucky. She also competed in track for the Kentucky Wildcats and gained four All-American honors: she was an indoor 55 meters finalist in 1994 and 1996, a 4×100 meters relay finalist in 1996, and a 100 meters finalist in 1997.
