Scott County teacher parades get an ‘A’ from students - April 29, 2020
Community Education Director Renee Holmes explained: “Caravans of caring adults paraded through neighborhoods all over the school district to let students know how much they are missed. Students and families
shared this sentiment, expressing their love through homemade signs, sidewalk chalk messages and bright and
beautiful smiles.”

That’s what Scott County principals and teachers did recently, only it wasn’t just one child. The act of kindness of these enthusiastic educators made every student in the school district smile.
“We miss U Northern!” proclaimed a poster held by a young student at that school.
“It was such a bright spot,” said a parent about the parade.
Rachelle Schjoll, principal of Northern Elementary School, learned about drive-by parades on social media and shared the idea with her staff. Staff members were quick to rally round the idea and take their show on the road; that is, the long and winding roads in their attendance district. Other schools in the district got in on the simple act of kindness. The result? Miles of smiles
