Holiday fun to be had in Georgetown, KY!

Southern Lights Holiday Festival
November 22- December 31, open daily 5:30-10pm
Named one of Kentucky’s Top 10 Winter/Holiday Festivals and Events by Kentucky Travel and Tourism, Southern Lights is a favorite holiday tradition throughout the Bluegrass and beyond. The annual Southern Lights Holiday Festival takes place at the Kentucky Horse Park, Nov. 22-Dec. 31 (indoor holiday festival activities closed Dec. 24-31). With three full miles of lights, this family-friendly festival has an eye-popping, selfie-worthy array of holiday displays. Drive through the lights, then enjoy park activities: local crafts, model trains and mini train rides, visits with Santa, pony and camel rides, an exotic petting zoo and more. ChristmasTime 2021
Wednesday through Sunday evenings beginning at 5:00 p.m. (ET) from November 26 through December 12. Every evening beginning at 5:00 p.m. from December 15–30, closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
ChristmasTime at the Ark Encounter is becoming a Christmas tradition for families in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. Enjoy the spectacular Christmas video sharing the hope of Christmas! And the state-of-the-art, 70-by-22-foot LED screen inside the Answers Center really makes the video colors and animation pop.
You’ll also enjoy a life-size ark and gardens illuminated in rainbow-colored lights, Ararat Ridge Zoo, festive food and drinks, traditional Christmas carols, a massive fair trade market and gift shop for Christmas shopping, and so much more. Ark Encounter | Website

 

Small Business Saturday
November 27th
There is something special about traveling to a small town during the holiday season where locally-owned eats and boutiques are in abundance. In and around Historic Downtown Georgetown, KY is a shopper’s delight, especially when approaching the holidays. All of our businesses light their storefronts up with cheerful decorations (2020 theme Holly Jolly Christmas) and offer some of the best deals around.  This year’s Small Business Saturday, set for Nov. 27, is an opportunity to discover, celebrate and support Georgetown’s many small businesses. A promotion launched in 2010 by American Express to encourage people across the country to support small, local businesses, it is a day to recognize all contributions small businesses make to the local community, including economic development, jobs, charitable donations and more. Letters to Santa at the Museum
November 27th, December 1st-4th, open 10:00am-4:00pm
Have the kiddos been naughty or nice this year? Letters to Santa can be dropped off at the Georgetown & Scott County Museum Nov. 27 & Dec 1-4th from 10am-4pm. Each letter will jump on the Santa Express and delivered to the North Pole and a personalized letter will be return and ready for pick-up on December 18 from 10am-4pm. Hanging of the Greens
December 2nd, 7:00pm
Another Georgetown holiday tradition is the special presentation of the Hanging of the Greens at Georgetown College in the John L. Hill Chapel on campus. This year the event, which originated in the early 1980s, will be held on Thursday, Dec. 2. The service includes music and the lighting of the Advent candles. Home for the Holidays Parade & Tree Lighting
December 4th, 6pm
Come “Home for the Holidays,” on Dec. 4 when Georgetown/Scott County Tourism Commission presents its annual Christmas tree lighting and parade, activities and open houses. Picturesque with its Victorian streetscape and buildings – 200 are listed on the National Registry of Historic Places – downtown Georgetown will be decorated for the holidays and ready to welcome Santa during the parade at 6pm & tree lighting to immediately follow. Christmas at Georgetown College
December 4th, 4:00pm-5:30pm
Celebrate being "Home for the Holidays" at Georgetown College on Saturday, December 4th. Come out to Memorial Drive from 4:00-5:30pm before the Christmas parade and tree lighting for a fun and spirited event. Activities include games, hot chocolate, a photobooth, and so much more! Ward Hall Candlelight Tours

December 10-13 & 17-20, open 4:00pm-8:00pm
The grand and gracious Greek-Revival-style mansion, Ward Hall, will be resplendent with the glow of dozens of candles during its annual Christmas Candlelight Tours. Explore this 12,000-square-foot villa that was paid for in $50,000 in gold when it was built in the 1850s and hear the stories of Sallie Ward, the “Belle of Louisville,” who loved nothing more than scandalizing polite society. Friday December 10 (6:00-8:30pm) & Saturday December 11 (5:30-8:30pm)

Discover how God made A Way in the Manger at the FREE City of Bethlehem Live Nativity presented by Georgetown First United Methodist Church.  Friday December 11 (6:00-8:30pm) and Saturday December 11 (5:30-8:30pm) you will be guided through a Live Nativity with 11 realistic scenes and hear the greatest Christmas story ever told – complete with actors and live animals including a camel, donkeys, and sheep!
